Customer interviews for data-driven decisions at Drumwave

Company Information

DrumWave is a technology company headquartered in Mountain View, CA. The company designs and develops the rails for the new data economy, including valuation algorithms, APIs, data apps, and tools.

DrumWave’s user champion is Chris, their UX Research Manager, who’s responsible for gathering and transforming insights into actionable data for the team.

 

The Why

Chris’s goal was to gather primary data that validates the problem that they’re trying to solve, and also get underneath who their primary users really are.

 

Co-creation at Drumwave

Over a period of 1-2 weeks, Chris conducted live interviews with 10 consumers on their perspectives on the sharing of personal data, and also asked for feedback on the solution that they’re developing for feedback.

The interviews were up to 50 minutes in length and involved audiences from across the United States who were more comfortable with sharing their data online on Lightster.

Recordings were captured for the purpose of consolidating into highlight clips and reels and later presented to stakeholders.

 

The Result

From the interviews conducted, Chris was able to identify patterns in the data and 1) create user personas for DrumWave’s primary users, and 2) validate the problems related to data that this audience had, and how DrumWave can solve it for them.
